My name’s Spike Murphy, and I work for LongTermParking.com, a job that puts me in contact with people and businesses in the parking industry across the country. During my time doing this work and interacting with people in the industry, I’ve been amazed at some of the stories I’ve come across.  Being a bit of a political wonk and having done some political work in the past, I was struck by how much of that world was reflected in such a scarcely thought of sector as parking. But there it was, human drama and webs of intrigue, microcosms of debates our country was having an a national scale, all happening in parking lots of all things. So I decided to start writing and sharing these stories, looking into them, and trying to put the pieces together to create a whole, cohesive picture of events. I try to stick to facts and reliable sources, but this is a blog, not a newspaper, so I’m not afraid to inject some opinion in there. At the end of the day, I love the wacky world of parking, and all of these stories, good and bad, are done out of a genuine curiosity and appreciation for that world.

Parking and politics, strange bedfellows? Maybe a perfect metaphor…for politics.
